Its environmental impact is terrifying enough. Then there’s the stress AI puts on creative industries, and the way it exacerbates anti-intellectualism in the US and beyond.

But I also can’t help but feel like it’s sucking the ambition out of creative people.

That’s part of why grifters love it so much; the more we perceive art as a product and the vulnerability of making a thing as a waste of time, the more docile we become. The less likely we are to tolerate sitting with our own thoughts, or making our own decisions.
