New year, old magic
Happy 2025! Last year went out with a bang — in elections around the world, and in the American healthcare industry (sorry not sorry). I believe this year is going to be one for the books, especially when it comes to the liberation of women and queer identities. But only if we put in the groundwork. Let's get after it.
What I'm Reading
- Fascism: A Warning by Madeleine Albright
- Autism and Spirituality by Olga Bogdashina
- A Walk Through the Forest of Souls by Rachel Pollack
- Poetry as Spellcasting by Tamiko Beyer, Destiny Hemphill & Lisbeth White
- The Future by Naomi Alderman
What I'm Watching
- Just finished DanDaDan! Beautifully animated, reminded me of my old fave FLCL.
What I'm Working On
- A new zine for my seasonally depressed witches, tentatively titled 'Sad Girls' Guide to Joy Journaling.'
- Outlining my first video for my YouTube channel, so I can yap about art and autism even harder.
- Writing a haiku a day for 3 months for a new spring zine.
What's Next
- In search of intersectional mutual aid and citizen science projects in the Pacific Northwest! Anything related to women's liberation and creative community work.
- Trying out the absolutely gorgeous Magic of I astrological planner for mapping out the months and crystal-clear intention setting.
- Clearing out clutter in my home for another long winter of art, research, and cozy reading time.
Looking forward to seeing what opportunities this next year brings. Hope you're feeling optimistic, too! Don't worry if you're not, though. Keep your heart open to the possibilities. If 2024 was any indication, just about anything can happen.
Best,
Aubrie
